Brand Mashups & Impossible Collabs

Mashups are your shortcut to fresh thinking: mix two brands, worlds, or icons that don’t belong together—or do they?

What It Is

A wild idea generator hiding in plain sight. This hack lives right in the Brand input—just type in your dream (or nightmare) collab to kick off a new session. Want to see what happens when Louis Vuitton partners with Godzilla? Type it in. Let Springboards do the heavy lifting.

Mashups are your creative shortcut to fresh thinking: mix two brands, worlds, or icons that don’t belong together—and suddenly you're in territory no one else is exploring.

▶ Watch how to do it — clearer when you see it in action.

Why It Works

This trick works because it breaks the rules on purpose.

  • Shakes off safe thinking: You're not trying to stay “on-brand.” You’re trying to blow the brand wide open.
  • Creates creative tension: The collision of opposite worlds = the spark of new ideas.
  • Gives you permission to play: And play is where the most original thinking shows up.

How to Try It

  1. Go to the Brand input field when starting a new session.
  2. Type in a mashup instead of a brand. Ex: Godzilla x Louis Vuitton
  3. Let the tool interpret it for you—then push it further:

Here's an example of running the Insights Digger Tool running with this brand mash-up:

  • What product would they launch? Atomic-powered handbags?
  • What’s the aesthetic? Stompy high fashion?
  • What cultural trend does it tap into? Eco-luxury with a side of cinematic destruction?

Bonus Spark

Pick brands from opposite ends of the spectrum:

  • Tech + Nature (e.g. Apple x Patagonia)
  • Nostalgia + Futurism (e.g.Tamagotchi x SpaceX)
  • Luxury + Chaos (e.g. Gucci x Waffle House at 2AM)

What Happens Next

The best ideas often start where logic stops. Even if the mashup would never make it past legal, the vibe it sparks could lead you to your most original concept yet.
